Due to the many roadblocks the team has run into during the integration phase the project is not 100% in VHDL as the team desired. The integration and pulling of data from the transceiver took way more time than was expected. In the future generating and integrating the VHDL code from the MATLAB script will be required. The PMOD-GPS VHDL module also needs to be integrated. Overall, the custom written VHDL modules written by the team needs to relate to the transceiver module in a proper manner.
Testing of distance limitations for the design will be required for future work as well. Currently the team has no sources to test the design outside and no signal generator/antenna to simulate what a signal being sent from a boat would be like.
The team currently has a working prototype that properly performs the target tasks given at the start of the project. Overall, the main future work for the project is to put all VHDL sub-module projects together and have them interact with each other correctly on the FPGA.
